Civil Rights Pilgrimage Packing List 2014

Its almost that time.....I hope you all are as excited as I am! Here is a recommended packing list for the Civil Rights Pilgrimage: The what and what not to bring :-)....

SP14 UIUC CIVIL RIGHTS PILGRIMAGE PACKING LIST

Luggage:

-          ONE Suitcase

-          ONE Backpack (if it isn’t small enough to fit on your lap, you shouldn’t bring it on the bus)

Clothing:

-          Enough Clothing for Nine (9) Days

o   The southern states we are visiting typically have warmer weather, but we may experience cooler temperatures so please bring a coat and warm clothing

-          Pajamas

-          Underwear

-          Walking Shoes/Socks

-          Church Attire (for visiting Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s Ebenezer Baptist Church)

o   “Business Casual”

o   Dress Slacks

o   Knee-length skirts

o   Ties

o   Dress shoes

o   NO: Bodycon skirts, running shoes, ridiculously high heels, or clubbing dresses!

o   If you would wear it to a bar or party, don’t bring it as church attire!

Personal Items:

-          Glasses

-          Contact Lens Solution/Case

-          Prescription medications

-          Shampoo/Conditioner

-          Toothbrush/Toothpaste

-          Soap

-          Shower Cap

-          Deodorant

-          Lotion

-          Hair Brush/Comb

-          Shower Shoes

-          Feminine Care Items

Miscellaneous:

-          Umbrella

-          Insect Repellent

-          Sunscreen

-          Cell Phone/Charger

-          Camera/Batteries

-          Spending Money (at least $50 of which needs to be in CASH)

Leave at Home (use your own discretion):

-          Laptops                             - Alcohol                    - Weapons of any kind

WITH ALL OF THE SITES WE ARE VISITING, YOU WILL NOT HAVE TIME TO USE ANY ELECTRONICS AND WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE IF IT IS LOST OR STOLEN! IN SHORT, IF YOU WOULD BE SAD TO LOSE IT, DON’T BRING IT!
